Scary moments, magic moments

It’s been a long time since I posted a very personal entry. However this past week got me thinking.
My mom was hospitalized again earlier this week. More complications with her heart. She’s home now, relaxing, but facing more tests.
This is my mommy. It was just me & her when I was growing up. Us against the world. So every time something happens, it’s frightening, scary, gut wrenching, but also eye opening.
I’ve been saying for months that I was going to write my book. A memoir of sorts about my year of charity work. 2010 was a huge year for my family. One I’ll never forget. And one I hope my kids won’t forget. However that’s MY job as a mom to make sure they remember all this.
Whether this gets published, or it sits in my drawer, I’m writing it. Last year we volunteered thousands of hours (or best guess is over a 1500) & with the help of our amazing family & friends we donated over $2000. That level of success for a family of 5 with only ONE parent needs to be chronicled. My first hope is that my kids will look back & say, WOW we did something amazing. My second hope is to show that EVERYONE can help SOMEHOW.
Wish me luck!
